Osteopathy Part 2

If the musculoskeletal system is out of balance, wrong signals are sent through the nerves to the brain. Once the body's structure is restored to balance, blood flows more freely increasing circulatory health and nerves are once again aligned to send the correct signals to the brain unimpeded. This all aids the body's own natural healing powers to work at an optimal performance.

Your first visit to an osteopath will be very similar to a visit with a general practitioner. They will take a complete medical history asking about current symptoms and past injuries. This history will include questions about your lifestyle, emotional status, and diet. All of this is included in order for the osteopath to get a total picture, thereby making the best treatment suggestions for your particular health needs.

Normally, he/she will check your range of motion, your body's mobility or immobility, and evaluate posture. They may even request x-rays and blood work to confirm their findings. Your osteopath may also suggest dietary adjustments or lifestyle changes, including a comprehensive exercise program.

The osteopath that you choose will take everything into consideration in order to put together the most effective treatment options for your particular health concerns.
