Hypnotherapy
For most of us, the thought of hypnosis brings to mind a group of people up on stage with a gentleman talking softly to them. Then at some point, he will have them raising their arms or barking or doing some other insanely entertaining antic. However, hypnosis as a therapy is becoming ever more popular as a noninvasive treatment for many disorders.
The idea or concept of hypnotherapy dates back to ancient Asia and Egypt, however, it was Dr. Franz Anton Mesmer who is credited with modernizing the practice in the late 1700s. Hypnotherapy is considered an integral part of CAM ( Complimentary and Alternative Medicine).
Hypnotherapy is a flexible therapy that can adapt itself to the ever changing needs of individuals and society in general. Hypnotherapy treatment is used for such a wide variety of maladies including emotional and physical.
Some treatments include: Stress management, migraine headaches, post op recovery, anxiety, stage fright, physical enhancement for sports, and most notably for smoking cessation. This is only a partial list of the ways in which an individual can benefit from hypnotherapy.
