Hypnotherapy Part 2

The aim of hypnotherapy is to utilize the patient's subconscious mind in a way that will help them help themselves. The mind and body are inseparable and the mind is powerful in helping or hindering health and healing. Wherever our minds go, our bodies will follow. During a hypnotherapy session you can expect to encounter three main steps or components to hypnotherapy: relaxation, concentration, and auto-suggestion.

All three are present within any of the hypno-techniques used. The most common techniques of hypnotherapy are:

Age regression: We have all seen this one in TV shows. The hypnotist with the decidedly Austrian accent tells his patient to, 'go back to when you were seven years old'. This techniques is useful to recall past emotional issues, bring them back to the conscious mind in order to be able to deal with and diffuse them.

Guided imagery: This particular technique is effective in aiding individuals in problem solving areas. We are more prone to try to solve problems with the right side, or analytical part of our brains. Guided imagery allows you to tap into your creativity and begin using the left side of your brain to solve problems.

Hypnotherapy is, overall, a safe way to help your mind heal your body or deal with many psychological issues.
