Hydrotherapy Part 2

Techniques used in hydrotherapy are as wide and varied as there are illness and diseases. These techniques include hot or cold baths, cold rubbings, whirlpool, alternating hot and cold packs, even saunas and/or steam treatment. Internal hydrotherapy treatments are douches for women and enemas for colonic cleansing.

Although hydrotherapy seems an extremely safe treatment, and it is in most cases, some precautions are necessary. For persons suffering from frostbite, paralysis, or other disorders involving the decreased sensations of nerve endings, hydrotherapy treatments should be done only under the supervision of a trained hydrotherapist. Likewise, those who suffer from hypertension or diabetes must consult their healthcare practitioner before beginning any hydrotherapy regimen.

Barring the above mentioned precautions, hydrotherapy is a wonderful approach to drug free treatment of aches and pains, and everyday stresses that each individual may encounter in their lives. Hydrotherapy can invigorate and stimulate or soothe and relax whatever your need may be.
