Herbalism Part 2

With more and more research into the side effects of chemical drugs, herbal therapy is making a come back. Herbal therapy can be as simple as adding familiar herbs, such as basil, garlic, or thyme, to our diets or as involved as combining several herbs to combat specific ailments and diseases. The goal of herbology is prevention of illness as well as cure.

Trained herbalists use whole herbs as well as extracts from parts of plants, i.e. leaves, roots or petals, in combinations that are designed to promote effectiveness and reduce toxicity.

Before beginning your own regimen of herbal treatment, you will need to consult a professional herbalist especially if you are already taking any other drugs. There are certain herb/drug contraindications that can be dangerous to your health.

Herbal therapy can be used to treat almost any ailment that has been discovered. From diseases of the body like general body pain or colds, to illness of the mind such as depression, herbal therapy can aid in healing.
