Chiropractic Medicine Part 2
Chiropractors may combine the use of spinal adjustments with several other treatments and approaches such as heat and ice, rest, message, and electrical stimulation. They will also factor in diet, weight loss, and other elements of the patients lifestyle.
Spinal manipulation is generally done with the hands. Some practitioners may also use other adjusting tools. When you visit a chiropractor, you can expect to lie on a specially designed table that puts you in the proper position for the practitioner to achieve maximum results. They may employee short thrusts that may produce a normally painless popping sound as your body is being realigned.
According to your specific needs, a chiropractor may need to manipulate the entire spine or only a portion of it. Other techniques that may be used are stretching or even traction. Usually a chiropractor will have you come for several short adjustment sessions which will give you proper alignment a little at a time.
Like all other alternative medicines, chiropractic is a non-invasive and drug free method of regaining health and promoting healing.
