Biofeedback Part 2
EMG - Electromyogram. This device uses sensors to measure muscle tension. The EMG is typically used to promote the relaxation of muscles to alleviate backaches, headaches, neck pain, and bruxism (tooth grinding).
Temperature biofeedback is a process in which sensors are attached to your fingers or toes to measure skin temperature. This type of biofeedback is often used to correct circulatory disorders and to reduce the frequency of headaches.
Galvanic skin response is intended to measure the amount of perspiration on your skin. This alerts you to a possible anxiety attack, and is useful in the treatment of emotional disorders.
EEG - Electroencephalogram measures brain activity linked to certain mental states. This type of biofeedback is often used to aid in the treat epilepsy, insomnia, or other neurological disorders.
Biofeedback is, as most alternative medicines, a noninvasive way to measure your mind and body's responses to treatment. This allows you to see your progress and know if it is working for you or if you should explore alternative methods.
