Aromatherapy Part 2
Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile plant oils for mind and body wellbeing. Essential oils are the pure essence of the plant. When it is used correctly and safely it will have a profound effect on psychological and physical imbalances. Inhaling these essential oils stimulates the brain, triggering a reaction to either calm or invigorate. When they are inhaled deeply into the lungs the naturally occurring chemicals in the oils can have a therapeutic effect. The most common example of this is the use of eucalyptus oil for easing congestion.
Aromatherapy has many benefits including emotional and physical. It can alter your mood or heal a wound. It can also be used in household cleaners and natural pest control. Aromatherapy is widely known to diminish periods of anxiety and relieve stress. And for everyday use, it just smells nice.
Remember that for maximum effectiveness and safety use only pure, natural essential oils. They can irritate the skin and need to be diluted with a carrier oil such as sweet almond oil or grape seed oil. Experiment with various blends to suit your needs and preferences and enjoy the world of aroma around you.
